Slightly mixed birthday feels
Jul. 24th, 2020 11:42 amI turn 39 today. I'm quite glad not to be a year older, as even though in some sense I know it's just a number, I'd feel a bit sad being so limited in how I could mark a birthday generally seen as Signficant. I don't generally make an especially big thing of my birthday anyway, but usually I get taken out for a fancy meal, and whilst that's theoretically permitted again, I don't quite feel comfortable with it yet. Friday is usually our takeaway night, and I had thought it might be nice to get it from one of the fine dining places which have started offering that service recently, it turns out you need to get organised a bit more in advance than I'd realised. Oh well.
More cheerfully, I've been given three exciting new veg*n recipe books as birthday presents, and am looking forward to spending much of the rest of the day curled up with them and planning plenty of tasty food over the coming days and weeks. I also took delivery today of a book which I'd bought myself and wasn't expecting for another week or so, Kurt Aland's Synopsis of the Four Gospels which I'm also looking forward to sinking into, although in a rather different way.
