Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Cambrioleur
Jan. 2nd, 2021 05:27 pmI've really enjoyed having a decent amount of time away from work and I think I made the right decision not to try and achieve too much over the break, but I'm simultaneously aware that there's quite a lot I'd like to get done in the next few weeks, and wish I'd made more of a dent in it. Ah well. My current contract will be winding up in the next couple of months, and it's fairly likely that I'll have a bit of a gap whilst I find the next one.
One thing I've picked up again recently is learning French. I've been listening to audiobooks of novels I've previously read in English, since that means I can follow the plot even if I miss a few details, but recently I've stepped up and am trying to listen to new-to-me material. I've started with a book of short stories about Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Cambrioleur, because again it means that if I miss bits it only gets in the way of my understanding of one story rather than the whole book. I am missing the occasional plot relevant point, but catching enough to be able to enjoy them (and skim reading each story afterwards to fill in the blanks). I understand that in the next story but one, Arsène Lupin will come face à face with the famous detective Herlock Sholmes, which I think might be quite fun.
