Jan. 5th, 2022 11:25 amI am amused by the BBC reporting that Macron wants to 'hassle' or 'annoy' vaccine refusers in France. The reaction seemed a bit over the top, so I looked up what he actually said, which was "Eh bien, là, les non-vaccinés, j’ai très envie de les emmerder."
The usual uses of the verb emmerder is either "Il m'emmerde", which means 'he pisses me off' or Je t'emmerde, which means 'Go fuck yourself.' So I think he's saying something between "I really want to piss them off' and 'I really want them to go fuck themselves'. I'm far from Macron's biggest fan, but there is something quite satisfying about that.
