Giving is absolutely my favourite sexual activity with other people who have an organic penis. I want them to come in my mouth, but I don't mind whether the penis is erect or not as it starts. Both have their nice features, and I'm happiest if there's a variety over time.

For receiving, I am not particularly fussed either. It depends in part on what else has happened and what is going to happen. There is a definite appeal in experiencing the hardening 'during' - it's one of the reasons I prefer vaginal intercourse over anal - but again, I like the variety of saying the answer is 'both'.

I generally prefer giving blowjobs on penises that are already hard. Partly cos I have not had much experience with partners who like direct penile stimulation while still soft, so I don't feel totally confident about anything in that direction. I also really like the sensation and context of having a penis fill most of my mouth and throat. I don't object to putting a soft penis in my mouth and feeling it get hard, though, that's also fun, just less preferred.
