It's been quite a busy week. I'm staying a bit further out of the city centre than I have the last few weeks, and although this has had the benefit of being close to a reservoir which is nice for running around, I'm realising that it makes it quite a bit harder to organise my evenings the way I'd like, so I should slightly increase the amount I'm willing to pay for somewhere more central. I had been hoping to find somewhere I could stay consistently, but so far the leads I had haven't panned out.
On Wednesday evening I actually made a flying visit back to London - it felt quite weird to be commuting the other way, but I already had an apartment booked for the whole week, and coming back the same evening was both cheaper and involved less horrifically early mornings. I was back in London to be sworn in as churchwarden for another year. I was chatting to the Archdeacon afterwards, who I have a bit of a crush on, and she became the latest in an increasingly frequent series of people to ask me if I had any intention to pursue a priestly vocation. I mentioned this on the book of face, and I think that
sfred's suggestion that this is probably just because it surprises people that someone would take on as much church responsibility as I have without that vocation is the likely explanation, but it does disconcert me a bit.
I've been enjoying playing things_that_aren't_avenue_Q on the piano the last few weeks. I'd not been making much time for it for a while before I picked it up again for Ardgour, and am pleasantly surprised how quickly the pieces I had been working on before are coming back to me. I should probably actually register for my Grade 5 at some point so I've got a specific goal date to work towards.
I'm only working a half day today, before heading over to Finedon to help get things ready for
bunnypip and
cuddlyviking's wedding tomorrow, which is awfully exciting :D

Date: 2018-06-25 03:49 pm (UTC)From:How well do you know the archdeacon? We're at the hawking Alec around for an incumbency stage of curacy and Hackney is on our target list. St Johns would have been too high for him. Any inside information or introductions you could give to help find a post for a lovely talented thoughtful intelligent liberalish middle of the road priest would be much appreciated.
