For those who aren't on the book of face, I'm planning to be in Cambridge in a couple of weekends' time, and would love to catch up with any of you who are free on the Sunday afternoon. The plan is to be in a pub that serves food from around 13.00-17.00. Suggestions of a good pub appreciated, as my knowledge of the Cambridge hostelry is about a decade out of date at this point...

Date: 2018-07-07 06:18 pm (UTC)From:These days I mostly drink in Steve's pubs - the Dev, the Haymakers, the Quedith if I'm down at that end of town. (I also frequent the Elm Tree, but it doesn't do food). Of these the Haymakers is probably best for a largish with-food group [1], albeit the Dev is very close to the station. The Quedith is just awkward, but thereby is more likely to have plenty of space.
There are plenty of other decent pubs in the city, still, but those mostly suffice for me. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend the Carlton much these days.
[1] Also if you're like me you do occasionally find that the last time you saw the landlady she was punching you in the chest in a pit somewhere...
