Gratitude

I've been feeling a bit flat the last couple of days for no particularly discernable reason, so here are some things I am grateful for or that are making me happy. If you would like to share your small joys or say nice things about me in the comments, that would be lovely.

- Last week I 'met' with [personal profile] hjdoom and we played 'Lost Cities', a new-to-us game on Board Game Arena, which we both really liked.
- I made sourdough pizza again yesterday, and it's getting better every time.
- Also my left-over bread bread, whilst still a long way from perfect, is getting a lot more like bread and less like a pancake.
- I'll be able to go to Mass on Sunday.
- Next week I'm going to visit [personal profile] leonato, and the next day my parents are going to drive over to York so we can meet up for a picnic.
- After a slightly disappointing attempt at purple last week, I've dyed my hair bright red and it came out really well. And because I also recently dyed [personal profile] obandsoller's hair bright green, he keeps pretending that we are anime arch-nemesisisises, which make me giggle.
- Lots of lovely people were kind enough to indulge me hamming it up ridiculously as the lead in Oscar Wilde's The Duchess of Padua last weekend.
- Patrick Stewart's Sonnet-A-Day project has restarted.

I don't know if you do twitter at all these days, but the World Cup of Evensong Anthems is lovely even if the voters have terrible taste. The Quarter-finals just finished, and the Semis feature three really lovely pieces (and the Harris, which I just don't get the appeal of) :)

I don't think Guido could be anything other than hammed up.

I managed to walk round most of London't tourist sites yesterday, visited three very beautiful churches (St Bart the Great, St paul's, St Stephen Walbrook), and managed to take some interesting photos of the City in the changeable weather.

I really enjoyed the readthrough!

Other happy things: a nice, long bike ride today, and a good book to relax with after.

The Met is finally having a decent version of Don Giovanni up from about 11pm tomorrow evening - in sixteen weeks of having a different one every day, they've only had one poor (visually, audibly, direction) one.

I have played - eek - just over 4,500 games of Lost Cities on YourTurnMyTurn. One of the things I like about it is, because of the element of luck, even the best players only have a win:loss ratio of about 60:40, and I did quite well at it. I see one rival is getting close to my number of tournament wins, so I'll have to play a couple more to pull ahead again :)

The 'Blue Banana' squash has set a fruit, and none of the other allotment plants look like they're failing at the moment.

We had a picnic! It was great to see you!

C and I watched MSND, which I loved in person and I loved again on TV.

I see from a later post you’re feeling better but figured it would be nice to share some small joy and remind you how much I enjoy spending time with you, even virtually. My current small joy is going down to the small lake at the end of our road and watching how it changes every time I visit. There’s always something new in flower, some small bit of animal behaviour and occasionally a very needy ginger cat. It’s very relaxing.

Small joys: watching Hamilton with the kid yesterday & singing along (bonus of being in living room :D ) and especially him singing along too as he's only just recently started being willing to sing at all; grapes on the grapevine in the back garden; THREE books from authors I love coming out this week.

And a nice thing about you: I have really been enjoying doing the virtual readthroughs and getting to hang out a bit!

Hair pics pls! N'er mind, I just saw it on your next post and it's ace!

My small joy has been my discovery of drawing and painting. I'm really quite rubbish at both so far, but given I did GCSE Art and hated it (and got an E for it!) I never thought I would get in to anything arty again. Watching a ton of Bob Ross has helped with that as well. If you're ever in need of something soothing and gentle and happy to watch, Bob Ross is definitely it.
