I took a covid test this morning. Not out of any symptoms or concerns, I hasten to add, but because I was randomly selected for the IPSOS-Mori survey. It was mildly unpleasant - I clearly haven't been getting enough practice recently at not gagging when the back of my throat is being prodded... Still, good to be doing my bit For Science(tm)!
Last night was the resumption of my Encounter course, and it was really good to see everyone again. I'm feeling a little bit as though I haven't done as much homework as I should have over the break, but I suspect I'd feel like that no matter what, and I have marked out some time for it this weekend.
I'd been letting my running slip quite a lot over the last three months or so, and am making a concerted effort to get back into the habit. I've managed just under 20km so far this year, which seems like a decent start. It's bloody cold though, which makes it less tempting, although it being one of the few reasons I feel justified in leaving the house is a bit of a counterweight to that.
I'm very pleased about the results of the Georgia Senate run-offs this afternoon. Still somewhat concerned by the extent to which Trump and his supporters are undermining democratic institutions in the States, but on balance a lot more optimistic that things can be turned around. Edit: Um, that was before rioters started storming the US Capitol. Fucking hell. I am honestly not sure what to think now.
