I have a long entry that I'm in the middle of writing about my recent retreat at St Beuno's, but it's taking a while to write, so I shouldn't let it stop me posting short things in between.
I cycled many many cycles this weekend. Yesterday I visited
the_lady_lily for lunch, which was delightful and involved lots of narging about vocation and the CofE's discernment process and various related subjects. Her child is now a real person with opinions and a personality and stuff, which is slightly disconcerting, although also very charming. That was a shade over ten miles each way, which is about as far as I've ever cycled in one day before (at least in the last 25 years). So it was possibly slightly unwise to do that the day before I had planned an actual leisure bike ride with
themidnightgirl today. We did a similar distance of just over twenty miles, but all in one go, and involving rather more vertical than travelling through London. My legs are very tired now, and I did have to get off and push briefly at one point, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and I think we'll be doing quite a bit more of that in the future.
I also went to the GP earlier this week to say "I think I've got arthritis. Which is rubbish since I'm barely in my 40s, what can I do to retard its progress." And it turns out that what I actually have is trigger finger, which is easily treatable, so I'm feeling rather pleased, and also a bit daft for leaving it for months before going to the doctor because I was grumpy about having to admit to myself that I might be old enough to have arthritis.
