In the last couple of weeks there's been a certain amount of comment, including from the author herself about a book which came out recently, about a black character who describes herself as having " short, nappy" hair with a cover picture of a white girl with long straight hair, and the racism in that decision.

The publisher have just announced that they're going to change the cover to one which is more representative. It's good to know that sometimes having these kind of conversations actually makes a difference. Baby steps, but steps nonetheless.

The post by the author is excellent, particularly with all the comments from other professional writers about their experiences.

It's heartening to know that there is a little progress, and that speaking out *can* yield results.

Oh, that's wonderful. I've been following the story but I hadn't heard that yet.

Baby steps, as you say, but definitely in the right direction.

That's really good to know. I'd followed that story with interest but hadn't heard this bit of news yet; thank you. It's really heartening to know the publishers listened to all the criticism and wised up.

Baby steps indeed, but progress.
