The weekend before last was the splendid and joyful wedding of ![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
bunnypip and cuddlyviking. In the way all the best weddings do, it encapsulated the couple perfectly. We began on the evening before with a readthrough of Midsummer Night's Dream, in which they played Theseus/Oberon and Hippolyta/Titania, and I got to play Demetrius to leonato's Helena.
The day itself began with a rehearsal (I was thurifer) and then getting prettied up. Marcus had chosen beautiful tweed suits for the best people, and despite being a bit outside my (and I think also the other best people's) usual style, we all looked rather fabulous. The service was beautiful. Delightful readings, an excellent and engaging sermon from the Rev Richard Coles, and probably the most beautiful wedding vows I've ever heard.
After a few official photos we started herding sheep to the reception, a village fete style affair, with games for the kids (young and old), a ceilidh, a hog roast, and more cheese than even I could contemplate. It was a wonderful day, with many many friends, old and new. The only problem was that with so many wonderful people I could have done with a lot more time to catch up with them all.
But tempes fugit, and all too soon the extraordinarily beautiful sunset was fading into twilight, and we saw the happy couple off on their honeymoon with an array of sparklers. A wonderful day, for two wonderful, much beloved friends.
