Goals. January

Meta
Todoist still seems to be suiting me. In particular, it seems to be quite easy to get back on top of if I ignore it for a few days and then come back to, which is absolutely vital if something's going to work for me. Have resisted the temptation to take on two new things this month. Well done me!

Finance
I didn't do brilliantly in February. I overspent in several categories, although had enough buffer from January that I'm still on target for my goal for the year. Main areas of overspend were transport, dining out, and theatre tickets. Theatre isn't really a problem, as I've bought tickets for several shows now coming up, so I can cut that to zero for March without feeling too deprived. Transport is likely to stay high - whilst I'm working in Huddersfield there are a lot of people I don't get to see very often within a short train journey, and it would be silly not to take advantage of that, so I'm rejigging the budget on the assumption that it's going to stay at current levels for the time being. Dining out isn't going to come down in March, in fact quite the reverse, because I've got a lot of eating-out plans already in the diary, but there are a few other areas where I'm fairly sure I can come in under budget to balance it out. I should try to avoid making too many restaurant plans for April & May though. On the positive side (from a financial perspective at least), it's not really practical to carry on having piano lessons whilst I'm in Huddersfield, so I've cut that budget significantly, which should cover both the increase in spending on transport, and give me a little bit more leeway for eating out.

Faith and Church
This has moved backwards rather than forwards in February, and I'm not entirely sure why. My main goal for the month is to concentrate on getting the examen habit back, and not worry too much about adding anything else on top of that. The fact that Lent is starting will probably help anyway, and there'll be a discussion group at church which should give me a bit of structure.

Health
Running continues to go reasonably well. I made my 112 mile February target (taking me to a total of 214/1000 miles), and it was a lot more even than January, but there was still a bit of a pattern of getting almost ahead, then skipping a day or three, and having to play catch up again. One silly mistake I made there was after the first day I missed, I felt as though I had to run twice as far the next day to catch up, and that thought was sufficiently aversive that I missed three days in a row. So my main takeaway for March is to give myself permission to catch up gradually if I miss days, and whilst I should aim for not missing any planned runs, I should especially try not to miss two in a row. I've also been running fairly slowly every day, rather than doing intervals as planned. I think that's partly because my legs are still getting used to having ramped up the volume a bit, and since I'm aiming to keep that pretty much constant in March (target is 125 miles, but it's a longer month, so about the same daily mileage) I'm hoping that I'll have a bit more scope to do speedwork. I've done 8 parkruns (out of a goal of 40) so far this year, although one of them isn't showing on the website because I forgot my barcode.
I still haven't been doing anything towards my strength goals, and don't plan to in March either.
I had an appointment with the dental hygienist and things are heading in the right direction. Next appointment isn't until the 18th May, so I have to make sure I keep up the good habits.

Hobbies
My Grade 5 exam is on Monday. Aaargh! This is a bit sooner than I expected, and I'm split between being glad that I won't have any more time to get rusty whilst I don't have easy access to a piano, and "Ohfuckthat'sreallysoon". I had a lesson/mock exam with [personal profile] artsyhonker last weekend, and I've definitely got a lot of work to do, and not much time to do it in, but we'll see how much cramming I can get done over the weekend. I said last month that I should work on getting into the routine of doing singing practice when I don't have access to a piano, and that hasn't happened yet, but I've now set a reminder to work out a plan for this once Monday's exam is over, so hopefully that will actually happen. Only one new recipe in February, but other hobbies stuff is going well. I'm keeping up fairly frequent DW updates, went to the theatre once in February, and in March I have tickets for two shows, two readthroughs that I'm organising, and one trip to Cambridge.
