The week after Easter, as is traditional, was fairly quiet. I was working from home again, as my main contact in Huddersfield was at a conference, so there wasn't much point in me travelling up. I spent rather more of it working than the previous week, and was in fact quite pleased to complete everything I had hoped to get done in the fortnight by Thursday, so got a bonus day off at the end.

This was good, because I had been starting to get a little bit nervous about various bits of wedding planning and admin, but by the end of the week was feeling considerably more on top of things. As well as this, [personal profile] obandsoller and I managed to get a decent amount of quiet time together. We watched quite a bit of Steven Universe, and are now caught up on all the episodes that can be bought from Amazon. I've enjoyed the show an enormous amount - the warmth, the unremarked queerness and gender-fluidity, the impressive amount of emotional complexity for a kids show made in ten minutes episodes. We also watched episode two of GoT, which I enjoyed a lot.

On the Thursday I had the final session with my ADHD group. Most of the focus was on symptoms that I'm less affected by, but there were still occasional moments of "oh, that's an ADHD thing too. I thought it was just me". On Friday I had dinner with my sister at Hicce and in doing so realised that there's a whole plaza of restaurants and shops of which I been hitherto unaware, so may have to investigate further. It was a really good meal, including some of the best babaganoush I've ever had, and some surprisingly exciting pickled cucumber. I've been doing a bit better at seeing Anne recently, because we run into each other at Parkrun, but it's still slightly shocking how much we invariably have to catch up on when we manage a proper meeting, considering how close we live to one another...

Over the weekend we got to do some of the more exciting bits of wedding prep, with initial fittings for our outfits on the Saturday, and a cake tasting on the Sunday. The following week I was back in Huddersfield for a slightly less productive work week than previously. I had some useful meetings, but there was continuing IT faff that made it difficult to get a lot of other work done. My social calendar for the week was fairly quiet, but on Wednesday my parents came over and I took them out for dinner at the Chinese restaurant just round the corner from my flat. We all enjoyed both food and company a great deal, and I was reminded again how lucky I am to have such excellent people as my family of birth.

After a quiet week, I then managed to pack an awful lot into the weekend. Arriving home at about 8.30 on Friday I cooked a fairly simple halloumi salad, and caught up with [personal profile] robert_jones and [personal profile] obandsoller over dinner. On Saturday morning I headed south to join [personal profile] cm and [personal profile] themidnightgirl for their local Parkrun. The previous week [personal profile] robert_jones had managed to get a new PB of 21:21, exactly equal to mine, so both of us were keen to take this opportunity to pull ahead. And despite running different courses so not having the immediate competition of the other to spur us on we both managed to get new PBs. Which were exactly the same at 21:00. He's taking a couple of weeks off now as he tapers for the marathon he's running at the end of the month, so I have that time to get ahead before I then have a long break for my surgery.

After Parkrun I popped back to the Mackays' to avail myself of their shower, and then headed to the Festival of Walsingham at Westminster which was a rather lovely day. I got there just in time for Mass, then went in search of lunch with [personal profile] artsyhonker. There followed a lecture on the history of Walsingham by Professor Eamon Duffy, which was engaging and informative and entertaining. Lectures are not the ideal format for me to take things in, but it was structured in such a way that even though I occasionally drifted off it was quite easy to come back in and engage with what he'd moved on to without feeling that it didn't make sense without the bits I'd missed. After the lecture there was a couple of hours for devotions, but I actually went for a walk and a hot chocolate and a bit of decompression, before returning to finish the festival with an extremely beautiful sung Evensong.

From there I went to a meeting about an extremely exciting but Top Sekrit bit of wedding preparation. It went really well, and what had initially been a vague idea of "this would be so cool, but I'm not sure how to make it happen" now has concrete shape and is definitely going to happen, and it's going to be So Awesome I Can't Even :D On Sunday morning [personal profile] obandsoller and I met our wedding photographer for a pre-wedding shoot. I felt like it went pretty well, and am really looking forward to seeing the photos that came out of it.

I had been free on Sunday morning because it was our Patronal Festival, so we had Mass in the evening. That turned out to be a bit stressful because a couple of people didn't show up, and so we had two new servers at the same time, so I had to try and keep a lot in my head at once to help coach them, and I'd forgotten to take my ADHD meds that morning, and also I hadn't spent enough time rehearsing the psalm so I messed up the second verse (but I kept going and got back on track for the third...) By the end of the service I was feeling a bit fretful and overpeopled, and half wanted to just duck out of the social bit afterwards, but on the other hand, my Inconvenient Crush was there, and due to clashing schedules I'd not seen her for a couple of months, and in the end that won out. And it worked out okay in the end - I managed to spend a decent amount of time chatting to her without too much of other people collaring me and asking me to do stuff for them. And she initiated a hug as she was leaving, which was very nice. And on one level it may be a terrible idea on all sorts of levels if it turns out to be a Mutual Inconvenient Crush, but on another, she is Very Lovely, and so I am going to enjoy it.

I really was feeling very overpeopled by the time I got home from church, so after getting a few cuddles from Ramesh when I got in I took myself off to bed, very glad that I would have the bank holiday to recover. I had a long lie in, then got up and went for a longish run. After getting home and having a shower I spent most of the afternoon with Ramesh, making him some lunch, then watching Game of Thrones (which we both enjoyed somewhat but not lots), and doing some more wedding admin. The evening was a mixture of pottering and getting caught up on emails, and another fairly early night so I could get up horribly early this morning to catch the train to Huddersfield, and write this entry.

Well done on recovering mid-Psalm - it's not easy to get a bit of singing back on track when it's gone awry!
