Goals

I've been doing a bit of reflecting this month about what makes a good goal, and observed a couple of things. One is that it's generally better to have goals which are about processes rather than results, because the processes are less likely to be affected by things that I can't control. But the counterpoint is that much of what I actually want is the result, so I need to pay careful attention to whether the processes I'm setting as targets do actually move me closer to the results I want, and be willing to be flexible if not. One aspect where this has come into play is the music practice, where after deciding to relax the goal to include any music practice, I have been going for the thing that seems easy and fun rather than the thing that needs the most focus (although obviously doing enjoyable practice will make me improve much faster than /not doing/ hard practice that's not fun at all, so there's definitely a balance to be found somewhere).

I'm a bit behind on some of the ongoing goals, but I have completed or almost completed all of the "Do this one-off thing" ones, so I'm hoping that that will free up some time/energy/willpower to get caught up on the others next month.

Maintenance

Review spending against budget each month: done for November
Quarterly spending in dicretionary categories below £X: back on track again.
Run at least 195 km each quarter: Not quite on track, but confident that I'll get back again.
Do at least one session (at least 20 min) of core strengthening exercise each week: missed one week, but seeing improvements in strength. I'll try to get in an extra week's worth in the next month.
Keep up my duolingo streak: on track

Additional goals
Private goal: discarded, because it was a results rather than process goal
Private goal: Not on track. Been finding this harder to stick to over the last few weeks because there's been a bunch of difficult stuff that has depleted my willpower.
Quit Facebook: Done. I feel pretty confident that this change is going stick.
Quit Twitter: As per Facebook.
Make a plan for St John's singers for the next year, and prepare adequately for all sessions this quarter: On track.
Thronescamp scripts: Done!
Engage an architect to start planning rebuild of extension: On track - we met with one architect whom we liked, and has given us a reasonable quote, but won't be able to start the work until February. We're meeting with another one to see if we prefer him/he can start sooner, but will be happy to go with the first if not.
Music practice on at 5 days/week: Basically on track. I got ahead of target for a while, and then slipped a bit in the last couple of weeks because other stuff has been eating my executive function, but I've still got up to eight days that I can skip between now and the end of the year, which should be achievable.
