I've deliberately cut right down on the number of goals this quarter - I'm hoping that getting the sleep and prayer habits properly entrenched will put me in a much better position to figure out what other things I can(and should) fit in around them.
Maintenance Goals
Run at least 195km (same as last quarter)
Additional goals (in rough order of priority)
Establish habit of consistently getting enough sleep
Write up notes from each therapy session by end of week
Identify what I need as a baseline for regular private prayer, and put that into practice.
Figure out a baseline value of how much I'd need to invoice each month assuming spending remains in line with last two quarters and some reasonable assumptions about returns in order to retire at 65.
Invoice at least that amount
More detailed plan for the sleep habit
- Start by figuring out how much sleep I actually need (i.e. if I'm going to bed at a consistent time each night, how much later do I wake up without an alarm.)
- For the first week, be very strict about lights off at 23.00, and don't set alarm (unless necessary for meetings). Keep track of what time I wake up, how awake I feel on doing so and whether I have difficulty sleeping during the night.
- Once that's established, pick bedtime so that I'd expect to naturally wake at 6.45, and set alarm for 7.00.
- Plan a sensible pre-bed routine, and for a couple of weeks note how well I manage to follow it, and what leads to any failures.
- If generally sticking to routine and bedtime, continue to monitor, if not then troubleshoot failure patterns, revise routine if necessary then repeat.
- Once habit seems established, think about potential future disruptions and plan how to handle them.
