wildeabandon: An avenue in autumn with leaves on the ground (leaves)
I've just done a bit of a tidy-up of my access and subscription lists on here. Mostly removing syndicated livejournal accounts that I don't think are being used anymore, but in the unlikely event that anyone I've removed does still read this via LJ and would like to be added back, just let me know.

I'm having a remarkably peaceful weekend. Some long term anxieties that have been something of a drain on my emotional resources have been resolved in the last few days, and there's been this space and lightness opening up inside me as a result. Maybe I can even manage to keep that space for a while and not fill it up with new projects and demands on myself and responsibilities? (Don't laugh!)

This would be a particularly good idea right now because work is definitely not relaxing at the moment! There's a lot that needs to be done, and not really enough time to do it in, and Friday included a couple of curve balls that we really could have done without, but somehow I'm managing not to let it spill over and stress me out over the weekend. Indeed - I think that having got some quality rest and enriching social interactions should send me back into next week with the necessary fortifications to tackle things.

I spent yesterday morning doing scriptural analysis - comparing the four gospel accounts of a couple of different passages (The Feeding of the 5000, and the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem), and then in the evening I met with [personal profile] hjdoom to discuss them, and other related questions, which was both enjoyable and informative. I think of myself as someone who learns best by reading and doing, but the additional depth I'm getting from discussing what I'm learning with other people who are exploring the same thing is remarkable.

And lest you think I do nothing but study, I also enjoyed a highly convivial brunch with my cohabitants, and a long relaxing bath with a trashy novel. Today is going to involve meeting [personal profile] ludy for a very different kind of sacred reading practice, where we're going to be applying the ideas from the Harry Potter and the Sacred Text practice to Terry Pratchett's "Wee Free Men". Then in the evening we're having our monthly House Date Night, with dinner and board games.

I'm glad you're having a peaceful weekend. Me too!

I should try to learn better from that the things I spend lots of time worrying about never turn out to be anywhere near as bad as I feared. Still, I worry until they're resolved.
