I had been mentally composing a post earlier in which I commented that by his latest book, Yotam Ottolenghi seems to have reached a slightly more realistic view of how much faff is reasonable to expect a home cook to undergo. And then I found myself trying to slice asparagus in a mandolin. I gave up half way through and used a knife instead, which was actually less time-consuming, and only resulted in very slightly thicker slices.

To be fair though, the lime and tamarind dressing was dead easy and delicious, so I will probably just use it for other dishes in future.
