I'm struggling a bit at the moment in a slightly frustrating way. My workload has come back down to a more reasonable level, but there's still quite a lot on my plate, and my holiday was not as refreshing as I'd hoped it would be, and I'm not really managing even normal levels of productivity. I also seem to be back in the space where even though I'm spending quite a lot of time not being productive, I often can't even seem to motivate myself to do things that I find fun in that time, which makes me feel worse about not being productive.
I don't think it's anything close to the level that would constitute even a mild a depressive episode. I am still enjoying things when I manage to get the activation energy together to do them, my self-esteem is absolutely fine, and I am optimistic and hopeful about the medium and long term future. I'll finish work for the Christmas break in a couple of weeks, and things will get better then, so I just need to keep my head above water until then.
Here are some good things:
- I'm already feeling a bit more confident on the bike
- We recently got our piano fixed, and I've been enjoying playing it again
- I had a lovely afternoon with the
the_alchemist and
themidnightgirl last weekend, and Florizel continues to be utterly delightful.
- I've got a couple of therapy sessions booked in for the next couple of weeks, which I expect to be pretty helpful
- This new eyeliner!

- My sister's new flat purchase finally completed after many months of frustrating delays, and after what's been a pretty tough year for her she's clearly a lot happier.
- On Friday I'm having dinner with an old friend whom I've not seen since the Before Times
Tell me some good things going on in your lives?

Date: 2021-12-01 08:49 pm (UTC)From:Sorry that you are having not-great-ness. It sounds (reads) like you are doing sensible things and keeping a good eye on your mental health (and yeah, sometimes feeling meh! is much more about outside world stuff than brain chemistry).
Yay! for the good things.
Good stuff for me: I’m improving post-surgery. I enjoyed starting my Inkvent calendar today - the first ink has the splendidly goth name of “seize the night” and is a rich purpley brown. And I’m making (sort of vaguely-blini-style) pancakes this evening to use up the excess bread-pet (sourdough starter) that’s accumulated while I’ve been convalescing - the mix is currently bubbling and growing satisfactorily while I work out what to have them with…

The good stuff...
