At least, not this time.... I'm feeling slightly fatalistic that I'm not going to avoid it in the Omicron wave, but I'd love to be wrong. I've got my booster booked on Wednesday at least, so should have at least some protection from that by the time I travel to my parent's on Christmas Eve.

Here's hoping! Yes: with delta, now omicron, avoiding SARS-CoV-2 is increasingly becoming quite a challenge but I remain hopeful of maintaining habitual vigilance, I think my odds remain good for this next round, with luck yours are too. Also hoping you have a lovely visit with your family. Worst case: yes, if you do contract it, being fairly freshly boosted is optimal.

Glad to hear you are unplagued for the moment.
I had my booster on Saturday, and have had a few aftershocks - pretty sure it's the booster not the plague, as none of the standard symptoms, and all very bitty.
I agree with your earlier post, however, that everything, but everything, is so very, very tedious. And [tribal failure klaxon] I'm actually worn out with the endless Boris memes, cheese and wine jokes, and all that stuff - we already knew he was a mendacious arse, and frankly I'd rather look at something cheerier.
