Today I am choosing to be grateful for the opportunity to upgrade to a shinier (and much lighter) bike, which I definitely couldn't have justified to myself if my old one hadn't been nicked yesterday...
I rather foolishly left it unlocked just inside the church building, and it vanished whilst I was in the sacristy polishing the thurible (not a euphemism). Lesson learned, and better that it happens to me than someone who can't afford to just buy a replacement the next day, but still, somewhat aggravating.

Date: 2022-04-13 08:52 pm (UTC)From:I don't think that the previous bike was the wrong choice for someone who hadn't ridden in about twenty years and isn't quite sure how much and where he's going to use it, but now that I've got a more definite answer to those questions the new one is definitely better. They were both hybrids, but the first was closer to the mountain bike end with suspension, so more comfortable and also about £200 cheaper. This is what I went for now.
