wildeabandon: man with briefcase (career)
I've been in my new job for three weeks now, and much as I'm enjoying it, it's very full on indeed. I'm hoping that once I've come up the learning curve I'm going to have a bit more time to breathe, especially since the spiritual direction course starts next week, which will be a whole other big demand on my time and energy.

I'm trying to work out what I can reasonably drop that won't either be an abdication of responsibility or make me miserable, and am leaning towards the conclusion that it might have to be the last bit of non-church volunteering that I'm still doing, which makes me feel a bit guilty. I'm trying to convince myself that actually, offering to do a thing when it needs doing isn't actually a commitment to keep on doing it in perpetuity, but I don't seem to entirely believe myself.

Sympathy. What you did was helpful, not being able to do more doesn’t deny that. What we let fall will be picked up by those behind. (The procession is very long and life is very short.)

Absolutely! Doing a thing for a while is still useful. You are allowed to stop doing the thing.

Another belated vote for stopping the things when you don't want to, or other stuff has to take priority.
